We had an absolute blast playing our programme of Enrique Crespo’s Latin-influenced Suite Americana and the fast-paced Pas Redoublé at today’s Royal Over-Seas League music competition. Unfortunately on this occasion it wasn’t enough to get to the final, but this has given the group a thirst for competing and we thoroughly enjoyed playing to the judges.
We would also like to say a big good luck to one of our trumpeters, Toby Street, who had a busy day also competing with brass dectet, Kensington Brass. They were successful in being put through to tomorrow’s final (open to the public at Over-Seas House) and we wish Toby all the best in that performance!
While Riverside Brass Quintet are obviously disappointed not to progress to the next stage, we feel proud to be Semi-Finalists of such a prestigious competition. We now move on to our performance with the Dyfed Choir in West Wales, just 2 weeks from now!
